Fairlawn, Stroke Association Host Stroke Survivor and Caregiver Forum
Fairlawn and the American Stroke Association will host a Stroke Survivor and Caregiver Forum on May 20th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Holiday Inn in Worcester.
The Forum will bring stroke experts together with survivors and their caregivers to discuss new treatments for stroke as well as issues involving life after stroke. It will also include a luncheon and awards presentation.
The day's program will be as follows:
9 -10 a.m.: Registration and Exhibits
10 -10:30 a.m.: Treatment and Rehabilitation of Spasms and Involuntary Movement ~ Dr. Daniel Tanenbaum, Medical Director of Outpatient Services at Fairlawn.
10:30-11 a.m.: Options in Alternative Therapies ~ Dr. Theolinda Barry, specialist in Naturopathic Medicine.
11-11:30 a.m.: Intimacy After Stroke ~ Mary Kalmanovich, Nurse Manager at Fairlawn.
11:30 a.m.-12 p.m.: Caring for Yourself While Caring for Another ~ Dr. Sheree Estes, Clinical Psychologist at Fairlawn.
12-1 p.m.: A Survivor's Perspective ~ Herve Leveillee, a young stroke survivor who received rehabilitation at Fairlawn.
1-2 p.m.: Driving After Stroke ~ Tim Cooney, Director of the Massachusetts Safety Council and Driving Issues for Stroke Survivors ~ Bill Shea, OT/R at Fairlawn and Dr. Elizabeth Roaf, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physician at Fairlawn.
The cost is $10 per stroke survivor and up to three guests. To register, call 1-800-392-4909 by May 14th.
