10th Annual B'ball Game Supports Programs for People With Disabilities
They hadn't won a game in almost a decade, but that didn't keep Fairlawn's staff from taking to the basketball court for yet another annual thrashing from the Bay State Wheelers.
This year's game against the Wheelers, a Central Massachusetts team comprised of people with disabilities, ended in the closest score ever in the two teams' ten-year history - 48 to 39. But the biggest cause for celebration was the $4,500 raised through the game to support recreational programs sponsored by the Wheelers.
Funds came through ticket sales and a raffle, which included many items donated from local businesses. Fairlawn's team also received a little bit of help from Kevin Shea, Worcester News Tonight- TV sports editor, and George Brown, program director at WTAG radio.
