For the ninth consecutive year, the staff of Fairlawn Rehabilitation Hospital took a thrashing in its annual benefit wheelchair basketball game against the Bay State Wheelers, a Central Massachusetts team comprised of people with disabilities.

Although Fairlawn lost (74-6), this year's competition raised $4,500 to support recreational programs sponsored by the Wheelers. The event also included the presentation of four athletic wheelchairs donated by Lakeview Medical, Inc. and Sunrise Medical, Inc.

To add to the fun, this year Fairlawn got a little extra help from three guest players - Hank Stoltz and George Brown of WTAG radio and Kevin Shea from Worcester News Tonight. Many local and national businesses also contributed raffle items to the event, including two Jet Blue airline tickets, an overnight at Foxwoods Casino, and $150 gift certificate to Cormier's Jewelers.
