It's never too early to nurture a future nurse. And the time is always right to foster an appreciation for the positive difference nurses make in people's lives.
That's why during National Nurses Week, a group of nurses from Fairlawn Rehabilitation Hospital visited local elementary schools to raise awareness about the important contributions nurses make to the community. Following a discussion of the diverse roles nurses play in today's world, students had a chance to listen to their heartbeats and use a pulse-ox machine to test their oxygen levels.
The students then presented drawings and essays reflecting their own thoughts about what nurses do. These were displayed throughout the hospital for the remainder of National Nurses Week.
