    Following is a list of Fairlawn's outpatient specialty clinics.
     
    Brace /Orthotics Clinic
     
    Fairlawn's outpatient Brace/Orthotics Clinic is designed for individuals with bracing or positioning needs due to neurological or orthopedic conditions.
     
    Goals and services include:
    • Maximizing Functional Mobility of individuals with bracing, orthotics, and positioning needs
    • Consultation with Physiatrist, Orthotists, and Physical Therapist
    • Trial Braces based on individual needs
    • Education about bracing/orthotic fit, and wearing schedule
    • Follow-up Assessment

    Wheelchair Clinic
     
    Fairlawn's outpatient Wheelchair Clinic is designed to assist patients in acquiring the durable medical equipment necessary to maximize their mobility and function.
     
    Goals and services include:
    • Comprehensive PT/OT Evaluation to determine appropriate equipment for maximizing mobility, comfort, independence
    • Trial Equipment for maneuverability and comfort
    • Collaboration with Vendor and On-site Seating Specialists to ensure optimal equipment
    • Provide Up-to-date Information about Medicare, Mass Health, and private insurers

    Driving Evaluations
     
    Fairlawn's outpatient Occupational Therapy Department provides driving evaluations for individuals who want to return to driving following a disabling event. Evaluation findings are forwarded to the individual's physician.
     
    The assessment, which requires a physician referral, consists of a:
    • Clinical Evaluation to test physical abilities, including vision, direction-following skills, brake reaction time, and driving related knowledge
    • Road Test conducted by a certified driving instructor and occupational therapist


     
    Second Chance Stroke Screenings
     
    Each month Fairlawn offers free "Second Chance" Stroke screenings for stroke survivors who are having difficulties with mobility, memory, communication, and/or activities of daily living.
     
    Held at the Outpatient Center, screenings include:
    • Functional mobility assessment (conducted by licensed physical therapist)
    • Speech-language evaluation (conducted by licensed speech-language pathologist)
    • Overall health assessment (provided by rehabilitation registered nurse)

    Findings are then reviewed by the screening team, and, when appropriate, forwarded to the individual's primary care physician so that referrals for necessary services can be made.
