Osteoporosis Program
Fairlawn's Outpatient Center offers a multi-faceted, exercise-based program for individuals with osteoporosis and those at risk for this potentially debilitating condition.
Goals
Marked by decreased bone mass, osteoporosis can lead to debilitating fractures resulting in loss of mobility and independence.
Fairlawn's Osteoporosis Program is designed to:
- Prevent patients' risk for falls, postural changes, and fractures
- Educate patients about the disease
Program Components
Studies have shown that weight-bearing exercise helps build bone mass and decrease the rate of bone loss.
Treatment includes:
- Medical/Therapeutic Evaluations
- Weight-bearing Exercise
- Safety and Balance Retraining for Fall Prevention
- Posture and Body Mechanics for Home Activities
- Nutritional Counseling
- Disease Education
