Hospital Becomes Completely Smoke Free

In keeping with its commitment to providing the highest quality medical-rehabilitative care, Fairlawn Rehabilitation Hospital will be a smoke-free campus as of July 1, 2008.

The use of any tobacco products will not be permitted on the hospital grounds. The restriction expands Fairlawn’s current policy under state law of prohibiting smoking inside buildings. Previously designated outdoor smoking areas are being eliminated to afford protection from the dangers of second-hand smoke.

“Our goal is to provide a healthier environment for our patients, visitors, staff and volunteers and to care for patients in a smoke-free facility and campus,” said Peter Mantegazza, Fairlawn’s CEO.
