    Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program
     
    Fairlawn Rehabilitation Hospital's Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program provides individuals who have chronic lung disease with the comprehensive medical care and therapeutic services they need to reach their maximum level of independence.
     
    Goals
    The goals of this multidisciplinary therapy program include:
    • Enhancing patients' knowledge so they are more actively involved in their health and care
    • Facilitating prescribed exercises to improve patients' functional status

     
    Program Components
    Each member of the program's treatment team possesses expertise in the unique issues and challenges faced by patients with limited lung capacity and pulmonary function.
     
    Program components include:
    • Comprehensive Medical Management by physician specialists (i.e., internal medicine, pulmonology, physiatry)
    • Occupational, Physical, Recreation Therapy to improve function and enhance quality of life
    • Patient/Family Education to increase knowledge of the disease process and its management
    • Individual and Group Exercise
    • Stress Management and Support Groups
    • Nutritional Assessment/Support
    • Assessment of Family Support/Community Resources
    • Discharge Planning
    • Family Conference (as needed)
    • Comprehensive Outpatient Services
