Fairlawn Rehabilitation Hospital provides specialized medical rehabilitation services for individuals with lymphedema, a swelling in the limbs caused by damage to the lymphatic system. Damage to this system, which purifies and transports fluid back to the circulatory system, is most often caused by surgery, trauma, infection, or cancer therapies (i.e., radiation).

    Goals

    • Controlling and reducing edema.
    • Providing support and education to assist the patient in leading a full and productive life.

    Service

Following a comprehensive evaluation, sessions consist of:
    • Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage
    • Bandaging
    • Skin Care
    • Exercise
